Sweet Tweets is my new Block of the Month. I designed this quilt during the first lockdown in April 2020. I was so excited during the lockdowns because it gave me the time to do all the things that I’d never had time to do as I was so always so busy planning workshops and travelling. Sweet Tweets was the first design that “came to me” (I never know where these ideas come from – somewhere in my brain I presume!!). I wanted to design something complex to challenge myself – and other quilters – with lots of “moving pieces” – meaning layered flowers and birds. I hope you agree with me that Sweet Tweets met that challenge.
Sweet Tweets is made up of 9 large bird/floral blocks with a lattice border. Each block size is 16 ½ x 12 ½ inches and the quilt finishes up at 66 inches x 54 inches.
I have included only the names of the background fabrics used. The rest of the quilt is made using fabrics from my ever changing stash… lots of pieces too old to even remember names and lots with selvages removed (before I realised how important they were to quilters). I have tried to include good photos of each block to help with fabric choices. As I aways say, raid your stash and pull out all your gorgeous fabrics and make a nice little pile of luscious fabric before you start.
I will be releasing it in PDF format only once a month for 10 months. I’ve had a few issues learning how to do this in the correct format so….. Month 1 is now available. The rest of the blocks will be released, one at a time, on the 15th of each month until March 2024.
To buy the pattern go to my website and click on Block of the Month - which will take you to Month 1.
I would LOVE to see photos of your quilts in progress.
Here is Kathy Doughty's (from Material Obsession) version of the quilt for a BOM she ran last year.
