A Paradise of Birds

I finally managed to get my act together and complete Month 1 of this Block of the Month.  I started this quilt last year – had all the birds stuck down – took it to the US when I had my “sabbatical” there – but never got around to completing it.  I did however finish it very quickly once I returned home.  I received lots of fabric advice from Mary Kelly (and had to listen to her this time!!) and here it is.

We have decided to do a “limited” block of the month as a lot of the fabric is now not available.  When I design and make my quilts I use fabric from my stash, some of which may be many years old – this is the only way I can do it.  So if you are interested please get in touch with Mary at Patch n Quilt.

Here are the blocks for Month 1.

I’ve also just completed my other latest quilt – made up of octagons and squares.  I’ll get a decent photo taken and post here soon.  Maybe I’ll ask for help with a name for it.

  1. Will the Bird patterns be available without the fabric if we wanted to use our own fabric? Will they be available in the US?

  2. A Paradise of Birds is soooo beautiful! The colors are lovely.. I love your book also. Congratulations!

    1. Hi Sandra

At the moment its only being sold through Patch n Quilt in Gisborne as it was a joint project with Mary. I will probably release it elsewhere some time in January 2016.

  3. You have done it again! – another beautiful quilt! Hope you bring it back to Charlottesville so we can see it! I am looking forward to your lecture on November 14th.

    1. Hi Janet – So good to hear from you. I am so glad that the Charlottesville date was changed and I’m so looking forward to catching up with all of you soon!!!

    1. Hi Susan

The pattern is not available as yet – it will be a BOM for a while and once we sell all the fabrics that we’ve put aside for it I will put it out as a pattern – maybe a little booklet!

    1. Hi Sharon
thanks for your lovely comments. I do remember meeting you a long time ago at Quilt Market in Melbourne – and seeing your stunning quilts!

  4. I love the quilt. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Maybe I’ll try to buy it once it’s available. Am not such an experienced quilter (yet :-))

  5. I just love this quilt! I was the first to buy the block of the month from Mary today and can’t wait to get started. Thankyou for being such a talented lady and keeping my passion for quilting firing on all cylinders!
